About Me
Hi, I'm Chris, a web designer and developer who is committed to working closely with clients to provide them with their perfect website. I like building sites that are clean and functional, but with an artistic flair which sets them apart from their competition.
I have a BA(Hons) degree in Communication Design which gave me a great foundation in Graphic and Web Design, but later pursued Web Development in my spare time, which landed me a job as a Web Developer at Emerge Group where I learnt many more skills.
Fast forward to the present day, and now I am living in Hong Kong as a full-time freelancer - always keen to take on new projects (in the UK and HK!) and learn new skills. As a general rule I tend to use either Drupal or Wordpress as my CMS of choice.
Main skillsets:
- Web Design using Adobe Software (Photoshop, Illustrator)
- HTML(5) and CSS(3)
- Javascript (especially jQuery), inc Ajax
- PHP and SQL
- Drupal theming and module development
- Wordpress theming
- Experience of other CMS: Modx, Joomla, Expression Engine, CMSMS
Portfolio
Cantoneasy
A personal project built in Drupal 7 to help people start learning to read Cantonese characters. Users complete 30 second quizzes and compare high scores with other users. I'm excited to see what come of this!

Consume Tea
My web designer friend Stevie Boxhall required a simple portfolio to showcase his latest work. He provided the design, I provided the finished product built in Wordpress. Site is now live!

Yodelling Mum
Website has now been launched! Yodelling Mum is a greetings card website, similar to Moonpig but with greatly enhanced functionality and a fresh design. My role here was to translate the designs into the site, whilst supporting the back-end developer.

Gladedale Group
One of my major projects whilst working with Emerge Group. The property builders site covers four domains with a central database. Includes functionality to book appointments, search by town, postcode or county , and save properties in a members only area.

A complete revamp for Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The site includes paid membership functionality, member sign up for upcoming events, and a 'member-to-member' discount system.

Aonach Mor
A website for a holiday home in Scotland, designed by Carl Cahill. CMSMS was used due to it's simplicity to use. Includes a booking / availability system so users can book holidays based on what days are available in the calendar.

Emerge Group
A portfolio website for my previous employer. The homepage features an ajax 'endless' stream of content accessed by scrolling down the page, mixing together blog posts and portfolio pieces as they are posted.

Fabulous Fancies
A website made for a friend to promote her cupcake business. Includes Paypal so users can order cakes online, and Facebook integration so individual cakes can be easily shared on Facebook.
